Walking around Uphill

Though it was quite cold and chilly, it was dry, so I went for a walk around Uphill. I went to the beach, past the boatyard and quarry and along part of the Brean Down Way.

Having parked the car I walked past the stream that runs through part of the village and headed to the beach.

From the beach you can see Brean Down. Despite it looking close, the River Axe (and its mud) gets in the way. If you want to get to Brean Down, you need to walk along the Brean Down Way.

The beach wasn’t too busy, but then it was also quite wet and damp.

I walked back from the beach and headed pats the marina and then onto the footpath by the quarry.

There were climbers climbing the quarry walls.

I got as far as looking over the Walborough Nature Reserve, before I turned back.

Then and Now Take Two – Montacute Circus

This is a regular series of blogs about photographs of the same place taken years apart. I quite like those Then and Now comparison photographs that you see in books or on the Twitter or Facebook.  The first of the posts in this series was of a council building in Manchester.

I always thought I should give then and now photographs a go. However what I have started to notice is that I have been doing Then and Now photographs unintentionally over the years and have been taking photographs of the same thing or place from the same view or perspective years apart.

Now this has come to my attention I have started to intentionally take photographs of the same place.

I took this photograph of the tree in Montacute Circus in Weston-super-Mare in April 2020.

Walking past the same place in July 2023 I noticed that they had cut the tree down.

Rather sad.

Making Tracks

I went for a lunchtime walk the other day and for no other reason than I was walking across railway bridges I took some photographs of the tracks.

Looking down to Flowerdown Bridge and the South West.

Looking North from Hutton Moor Lane bridge at the end you can see Flowerdown Bridge.

Looking South from Hutton Moor Lane bridge.

The main railway line to the South West passes through the outskirts of Weston-super-Mare before heading down to Taunton and Exeter.

Then and Now – The Campus

This is a regular series of blogs about photographs of the same place taken years apart. I quite like those Then and Now comparison photographs that you see in books or on the Twitter or Facebook. I always think I should give them a go. However what I have started to notice is that I have been doing Then and Now photographs unintentionally over the years and have been taking photographs of the same thing or place from the same view or perspective years apart.

The Campus is a local community centre, that as well as a primary school, a specialist school, a library, a cafe, it also is used by local  groups.

I took this photograph on September 22nd 2022.

It was taken with an iPhone 13.

I wasn’t too surprised to find that I had taken a similar photograph four years earlier on October 16th 2018.

This photo was taken with the iPhone 6s Plus.
