Gromit Unleashed 2020

So 2020 sees another trail featuring Aardman’s characters from Wallace and Gromit. This one though is much shorter and all the sculptures are at the Mall at Cribbs Causeway.

Before lockdown we managed to find them all within a couple of hours.

15. Postie McGraw

At the Mall there is a Gromit trail.

This is Postie McGraw.

Featuring Wallace, Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Feathers McGraw, The Grand Adventure will see 15 sculptures pup-up in various locations around The Mall – launching on Saturday, 24 October. You’ll be able to travel around the world visiting brand new designs, as well as firm favourites from previous trails, each representing a different country.

11. Feathers Macaw

At the Mall there is a Gromit trail.

This is Feathers Macaw.

Featuring Wallace, Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Feathers McGraw, The Grand Adventure will see 15 sculptures pup-up in various locations around The Mall – launching on Saturday, 24 October. Feathers Macaw was part of the 2018 trail hiding in the shadows of the Victoria Rooms.

A penguin trying to be a chicken, painted as a macaw….

Honeysuckle Rose 64. Cupid 65. Swallows & Amazons 66. Toto 67. Amazing Grace

Out of the 67 I don’t think I could choose a single one as a favourite. I really like 65. Swallows & Amazons as well as  33. Rocket Man. 50. Spock made me smile as did the cleverness of the Lego constructed 38. Cracking Build Gromit!. I appreciated the poignancy of 25. Bristol’s Own and the wonderfully clever  29. Alex the Lion.

So no I didn’t have a favourite, but I did enjoy “collecting” them all.

23. Featherertron 3000

This was a real challenge to photograph, in the main as Bristol Energy Hub was always closed when I visited.

This was my second attempt to photograph 23. Featherertron 3000 which was behind a window. The first time the place had closed as it was Sunday after 4pm and on a repeat visit to get a photograph, the place had closed for a meeting for four hours….

23. Featherertron 3000

That was my second visit.

On my first attempt, it was a Sunday and the Bristol Energy Hub had closed earlier, but you could at least see the sculptures inside the window, but this was virtually impossible to photograph due to the light reflection on the window as you can see.

23. Featherertron 3000

Taking photographs through a window is really challenging, especially when the sculpture is black and there is bright sunshine behind you. Disappointed that this Feathers wasn’t more accessible.

Back in 2015 I attempted to see and photograph all 70 Shaun the Sheeps I managed to get 62. This time I am aiming to get all 67 sculptures. I have created this page to record all the sculptures we find. Download the app to find the sculptures.

61. Plooming Marvellous

This peacock can be found lurking at the Hartcliffe Community Farm Park.

61. Plooming Marvellous

Overlooking the farm, you do wonder what dastardly deeds is that Feathers McGraw planning now.

61. Plooming Marvellous

Clever idea and sculpture, why be a chicken when you can disguise yourself as a peacock!
