I had been in Birmingham and was on my way home, so I took a detour to Charlecote Park in Warwickshire. As with other National Trust properties, they have installed EV chargers, so once there I put the car on charge.
Headed to reception and got my card scanned and then crossed the road. The drive was in the sun; I went to the verge and walked down the side taking advantage of the shade under the trees. There is a lovely gatehouse and then a short walk to the house.
Charlecote Park
Charlecote Park, a family home for more than 900 years, was transformed in the 1800s into one of the finest examples of Elizabethan Revival style by its owners Mary Elizabeth and George Hammond Lucy. Overlooking the river Avon on the edge of Shakespeare’s Stratford, it is a place of surprising treasures, which reflect the tastes and memories of the Lucy family. The exceptionally well preserved working spaces, the laundry, brewhouse and kitchen, give a taste of past activity, while the stables still hold the family carriage collection.

I explored the house. It was an interesting mix of restored Elizabethan with an extension in the Elizabethan Revival style. The family still live at Charlecote Park, so you can’t explore all of the house.
After taking the time to walk around the house I headed to the cafe for some iced coffee and toasted teacake.
There are numerous outbuildings at Charlecote Park including a unique and interesting brewhouse. I enjoyed seeing the kitchens as well. The stables contain the family carriage collection and it was interesting to see the different kinds of carriages for all kinds of occasions and travel.
Took some time and walked around the grounds, trying to keep to the shade and out of the sun. The thatched summerhouse is a delight, and something I know as a child I would have loved.
After a wonderful visit I headed back to the car and drove back home.
